Freddy Krueger is a fictional character and the primary antagonist of the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. He was created by Wes Craven and first appeared in the 1984 film of the same name.
Within the films, Krueger is a deceased child murderer who was burned alive by the parents of his victims. After his death, he returns as a malevolent dream demon, haunting and killing teenagers in their dreams, with the physical injuries they sustain in the dream world manifesting in reality.
